Harapan OKU calls for review of laws for the disabled

A group championing rights for the disabled is calling for the review of the Persons with Disabilities Act 2008 and other relevant laws. The group, Harapan OKU, also called for the establishment of a “Commission for Disability Inclusion”, which has enforcement powers, as well as the enactment of a “Disability Discrimination Act”.

Sarawak needs vocational school for disabled

The state government is hoping that the Federal Government will set up a vocational school in Sarawak for disabled students. State Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said there were only preschools and, primary and secondary schools for those with special needs in the state.
