Disability cricket reaches new heights

Two matches for the ICRC T20 Cricket Tournament for People with Physical Disabilities were played at the venue on Tuesday.

The Gazipur Glorious Disable Cricket Club batted first, posting a score of 99-5 at the end of the 20 overs. But their opponents, Dhaka’s CRP Physically Challenged Cricket Team, took the win, reaching the target with seven wickets to spare.

Single mother Lee Ah Lan, 81, has been caring for her only surviving son Loh Suan Keng, 61, who is bedridden with stroke and other illnesses.

Giving new hope to the disabled

Mohd Firdaus Abdul Latif was pursuing a course to repair air-conditioners in 2004 when he was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident. He was riding home to Tanjung Malim after classes when he was hit by a vehicle near Templer’s Park in Selayang. In 2015, he enrolled in Maybank Foundation’s Reach Independence and Sustainable Entrepreneurship Programme (RISE) and learnt the many aspects of doing business.
