Given the opportunity, people with physical and learning disabilities wish to excel in life and lead a normal life. Their potential in contributing to society and earning a living, has not gone unnoticed as several companies are in the forefront, in giving the disabled an opportunity to work.

There is a lot of work and research being done to find ways to improve life for partially-sighted and blind people. Reading and recognition devices could make smartphones, tablets, and smart glasses into indispensable aids for the visually impaired.

In Malaysia, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been cooperating for six years with local authorities to help address this problem and since 2005 the agency and the Malaysian Welfare Department began a project to train so-called job coaches who support job seekers with disabilities.
