Phang Kar Mun was only 20 when she sustained a brain injury from an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident. She was in the United States, excited to begin the next chapter of her life as a university student in 2011. A few days before classes commenced, she went on an ATV jaunt with her friends. The vehicle flipped, throwing the young girl off, leaving her paralysed.

Today, the 12-year-old dyslexic and autistic boy enjoys live painting and his artworks were exhibited at the “The Joy of Painting; Young Artists Art Exhibition” at Pustaka in Miri last month. Seven of his paintings were sold during the exhibition to raise funds for a storybook project in rural schools.
