Paralympian enters 800m for first time and romps to the gold

Paralympian Siti Noor Iasah Mohamed Ariffin is a 400m runner. As such, there was no high expectations on her when she decided to compete in the women’s 800m T20 (learning disability) event at the Kuala Lumpur Asean Para Games. But yesterday, the 28-year-old mother of a five-year-old girl sprang a huge surprise when she won the gold in 2:34.12 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

With the support of the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Disability Network Partners recently sponsored — for the very first time — a seating and wheeled mobility services training workshop. Disabled drivers left in a lurch

Inconsiderate motorists in Klang are hogging designated parking bays for the disabled, despite action taken by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) enforcement team. MPK statistics reveal that an average of 15 cars a day are towed away for parking in disabled bays, with the offenders also issued summonses for RM400.

However, councillor Allan Tan, who is disabled, said many of the offenders just could not be bothered.
