Vishnu Kumar had barely reached adulthood when he lost his limbs in a freak electrical accident. A year later, the 22-year-old is preparing to walk again with the aide of a “Jaipur Foot” – a no-frills prosthetic made locally.

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd will hold discussions with disabled people associations to make Kuala Lumpur’s rapid transit system more disabled-friendly.

Rapid Rail chief executive officer Datuk Zohari Sulaiman said safety and comfort remain the company’s top priority, as it strives to become a world class public transportation provider.

Both the blind and the deaf are not entitled to getting parking stickers for the disabled under the current regulations set by several local councils.

In light of this, the affected group hopes the local councils will at least provide more priority parking bays for their convenience and that of their carers.

StarMetro spoke to four adults who were faced with such challenges, who instead of dwelling on their condition, embarked on various activities including helping the needy and finding new hobbies to keep them going.
